What's your story?

Does your writing have a ‘tone of voice’ - one that actually sounds like you?

You may be a masterful musician or cruise boat captain, inimitable artist, ethical trailblazer, chocolate maker, award-winning mover and shaker, but can you put pen to paper and tell the world about your talent? Can you charm your audience with persuasive words?

These are important questions because engaging, meaningful, honest storytelling is a craft too. Spellcraft. This practical magic is at the heart of effective communication, inspiring creativity, and real connection.

In the early 1700s, the Scottish altered the English word grammar to create glamer or glamour; it meant "magic spell." - Merriam Webster Dictionary

So how can you infuse your words with a wee bit of glamour? Tell a story that feels true by staying true to yourself. Remember, you are a wave in the ocean; a one-off, original, never to be repeated. Yet, it’s easy to get lost in noise and chaos. So be the wave that dances skywards. Speak up. Share a story that shimmers.

“Words are energy and they cast spells, that's why it's called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.” - Bruce Lee

If you’re searching for creative support amidst the choppy waters of media and marketing, I’d love to hop aboard! I'm in my element playing with words - both spoken and written. Are they beautiful on the page? How do they sound out loud? Do they paint a picture? There's no better feeling than when heartfelt words begin to flow, swirl across the page, ripple out across media, and into minds.

What can I bring to your crew? Well, I started out working at flagship Scottish radio stations in the Bauer group. As a radio producer, my role included writing copy for networked ‘Life Matters’ radio campaigns in collaboration with the Scottish Government, live radio and event scripts, entertainment bulletins, and promotional features. These days, I write for inspiring creatives, solopreneurs, artisans, start-ups, activists, and change-makers. My words can be found on socials, websites, blogs, ads, posters, media kits, and merchandise. I can also create newsletters for crucial communications with your clients and collaborators.

Just as the rolling tide smooths and polishes a pebble, I can help to shape and hone your story until it sparkles and flows...

  • "'Vicky is my absolute go-to for all things word! She is super-passionate about her work, extremely reliable and a dream to work with. I can’t recommend her highly enough - she’s worked with me across lots of events for the last five years and is always on point between my different brands and events.’

    — Mel Jarron, Director, WILDHOOD Festival + Scene Scotland

  • “Wow! It sent shivers down my spine!!! You've expressed the right feel for the business - I didn't need to change a single word!"

    - Sophie Latinis, Owner/Director, Pittenweem Chocolate Company

  • "Her tone and creative eye were always on-brand with our 'feel good street food' ethos; she was very much 'the voice of Muchacho.' Vicky worked directly with our shop managers and our wider marketing function - eg freelance graphic/web designers, photographers, collaborators in the wider business community, and journalists - to ensure online and press communications aligned with daily operations, customer experience, and all aspects of our brand.'

Lee Brandie, Muchacho - Feel Good Street Food

  • "From the very first meeting she was focused, professional, and very quick to pick up the general vibe we wanted for social media. She then added her own unique, informative style and got down to business. As our business is a small ferry which travels to an island nature reserve, it requires ongoing research to create accurate content on a variety of subjects including seabirds, seals, lighthouses, Vikings etc. She researched, liaised with photographers, and produced interesting, amusing, on-point content. If you're looking for a competent, articulate person that is excellent at her job and a joy to work with, Vicky is the answer."

    — - Linda + Alex Gardner, Anstruther Pleasure Cruises

  • “OMG! I just went on to Facebook to see loads of feedback! That's great Vicky, your input has created just the right balance!"

    - Louise Scott, Artist & Print Maker
